  • Testified as expert witness in a contract dispute between two major chemical companies, involving expertise in production technology for a certain petrochemical intermediate as well as best practices in licensing technology, process and equipment design, and plant operation.
  • As a subcontractor to several underwriting firms, investigated the causes of a failure of two large catalytic reactors to perform in an acceptable manner in a major petrochemical facility.
  • As a subcontractor to several forensic consulting firms, performed technical and marketing analyses for a number of chemical products and economic modeling of various process plant operations, in support of several expert and fact witnesses.
  • As a subcontractor to the U.S. Dept. of Energy, conducted a two-year study of the U.S. chemical industry, reviewing the energy efficiencies of most of the major chemical processes utilized, and identifying those process steps and pieces of equipment (reactors, separators, compressors, heat exchangers, etc.) which were contributing to poor energy efficiencies. Recommended improvements.
  • As a subcontractor to major consulting firms, critiqued a draft technology licensing contract, worked on due diligence projects, wrote or edited technical multiclient studies.
  • Advised several startup companies on how to move from research to commercialization of new chemical and renewable chemical catalysts and processes.
  • Audited status of R&D program and readiness for commercialization of a new process technology, being developed by a major international energy and chemical company.
  • For a major multinational firm, audited status of R&D of a new process technology being developed by a start-up company.
  • Performed economic analyses and advised a small technology development company and its major multinational client on developing a novel process technology.
  • Performed a market study and economic evaluation for a novel preparation method for a family of catalysts.
  • Conducted market studies, prepared technical reports and developed economic models for a developer of biomass-based production processes for several major chemicals.
